Freshness from the freezer

Frozen seasonal produce offers a taste sensation at any time of year.
Freezing food does more than extend its shelf life, in fact, the fresher food is when introduced to the freezer and the faster it is frozen, the more vitamins and nutrients it retains. Fresh fish is actually frozen while still on the high seas and, thanks to this ‘shock freezing’, the fish sold at supermarket counters is still extremely fresh, despite its often-lengthy transport route. You can use a similar technique at home using Liebherr's automated SuperFrost function. SuperFrost lowers the temperature in the freezer compartment to -32°C, to create a cold reserve, and thereby ensures rapid freezing to preserve the taste and vitamin content of fresh seasonal produce. Once the food is fully frozen, SuperFrost automatically switches back to normal mode, saving electricity.
By the way: unlike the freezing process, defrosting should occur slowly and gently – ideally in a refrigerator.
