Freshness from the freezer
Freezing food does more than extend its shelf life, in fact, the fresher food is when introduced to the freezer and the faster it is frozen, the more vitamins and nutrients it retains. Fresh fish is actually frozen while still on the high seas and, thanks to this ‘shock freezing’, the fish sold at supermarket counters is still extremely fresh, despite its often-lengthy transport route. You can use a similar technique at home using Liebherr's automated SuperFrost function. SuperFrost lowers the temperature in the freezer compartment to -32°C, to create a cold reserve, and thereby ensures rapid freezing to preserve the taste and vitamin content of fresh seasonal produce. Once the food is fully frozen, SuperFrost automatically switches back to normal mode, saving electricity.
By the way: unlike the freezing process, defrosting should occur slowly and gently – ideally in a refrigerator.
Freezer innovations from Liebherr
NoFrost Forget defrosting forever
Regular defrosting saves electricity but, with the NoFrost function, defrosting is automatic. As soon as a layer of ice forms on the evaporator, a sensor triggers the defrost process. This switches off the fan, heats the evaporator piping and melts the ice without increasing the temperature in the freezer compartment itself. As a result, the freezer remains ice-free, the energy consumption level remains constant, and you never have to manually defrost your appliance again!
FrostSafe Keeps coldness in the freezer compartment
Each time the freezer is opened, coldness escapes. Not only does this drive up energy the consumption, it also introduces temperature fluctuations, which can affect the quality of the stored items. FrostSafe appliances have deep, fully enclosed freezer drawers so that, when the door is opened, far less cold escapes than with traditional-style freezers. Further, the drawers are transparent-fronted so you can view the items stored without having to open them.
Telescopic rails Easy-to-open
The drawers in the 70 cm wide NoFrost freezer series are set on smooth-running telescopic rails. These come with highly practical integrated handles, so that they can be easily pulled out and removed.
IceMaker Ice cubes on demand
The nibbles are prepared, the wine and champagne chilled, and the glasses wiped – the party can now begin! But, to your horror, you realise that in the stress of organising everything, you have forgotten to refill the ice cube trays. If only you'd had an IceMaker! With the IceMaker, manually making ice cubes is a thing of the past; ice cubes are available on demand thanks to the IceMaker's plumbed-in connection or separate water tank.
Herb and berry drawer Beautiful berries, beautiful herbs
It's a problem that's familiar to anyone who has ever frozen berries, wild garlic, basil etc. - in freezer bags, berries and herbs have a tendency to freeze clumped together, which damages their visual appearance and makes removing individual portions difficult. This won't happen with the Liebherr herb and berry drawer though, as you can freeze the likes of blackberries, Swiss chard etc. individually, in a carefully arranged, clear manner. After ten to twelve hours of pre-freezing in the drawer, the frozen produce can be transferred into freezer bags or resealable plastic containers for storage.
SuperFrost Freezing made easy
The automatic SuperFrost function makes freezing food a simple and energy-efficient process. It quickly lowers the freezer temperature to -32°C to create the coldness levels required to preserve vital nutrients by rapid freezing. As soon as the food is completely frozen, the SuperFrost function switches back to normal mode, helping to save electricity.
