Why Liebherr laboratory appliances are safe
Our laboratory appliances are designed in accordance with standard EN 60068-3 to offer maximum temperature stability and temperature consistency. Constant interior temperatures are maintained by the forced-air cooling system and by optimum airflow within the interior.
During everyday laboratory life, frequently opening appliance doors, or leaving them open for too long, will lead to temperature fluctuations that have to be compensated for – or ideally, avoided in the first place. Liebherr appliances come with self-closing doors and, in the event of significant temperature deviation, the appliance immediately triggers acoustic and visual alarms.
In research and laboratory environments, the highest hygiene standards have to be met, and this means that the appliances have to be regularly cleaned, and therefore be resistant to the stresses associated with abrasion and chemical agents. Easy-to-remove shelves and smooth, seam-free interior surfaces make Liebherr appliances easy-to-clean. Recessed seals prevent the accumulation of dirt and dust. The floor beneath appliances can be easily accessed and thoroughly cleaned thanks to smooth-running castors on the appliances' undersides.
Made from only premium-quality, tried-and-tested materials, our laboratory appliances are particularly strong and durable, and feature a scratch, impact and corrosion-resistant coating. The plastic-coated grid shelves aptly fulfil hygiene requirements and are particularly robust. We manufacture our mechanical parts such as door handles, hinges and locks to function efficiently for many years, even when frequently used.
Robust locks, installed as standard, prevent unauthorised access. Furthermore, to only provide access to certain people, some appliances can be fitted with optionally available additional lock barrels.
Liebherr offers special refrigerators and freezers for storing explosive and highly flammable materials. These appliances fulfil all of the safety requirements established by EU Directive 94/9EC (ATEX 95).
Even the highest quality, strictest safety procedures are unable to completely prevent defects occurring. Our refrigerators with Comfort electronic controls therefore come with an additional safety thermostat, which assumes control in the event of a fault and prevents the temperature from falling below +2°C.

During everyday use, optimised insulation and environmentally friendly R 290 and R 600a refrigerants contribute significantly to appliance economy. The hot-gas defrosting system increases efficiency, as the defrosting cycles are much shorter than conventional electrical defrosting systems. Demand-responsive hot-gas defrosting helps to reduce electricity costs, and ensures that temperatures in the interior are virtually uninterrupted.
Liebherr laboratory appliances can be easily integrated into existing infrastructures. Networked with other appliances and connected to external systems, they help to efficiently monitor processes like calibration, data management and documentation.
Automatic documentation and alarm functions
Documentation is an unavoidable and time-consuming part of everyday laboratory life. And, for many applications, data recording is required for more than just legal reasons: continuous recording and monitoring are crucial to the validity of tests and, in the case of incidents, these records document the course of events and responsibilities.
Liebherr appliances with Profi electronic controls have integrated data storage for automatic documentation purposes. All models can be integrated into the existing on-site infrastructure, individually or via serial interfaces.
Functions and accessories for documentation
Appliances with a Profi electronics can be connected to an external alarm system by means of a potential-free contact. This ensures that the refrigeration process is continually monitored and documented, whether or not staff are present.
Integration into existing systems
The central data management system reduces the documentation-related workload. The RS 485 serial interface can be used to network up to 20 appliances. An optionally available interface converter connects the networked appliances to a computer, and the documentation software notifies the relevant personnel about any alarms by e-mail and provides all the data required.
In the event of uncertainty, the continuous documentation can reveal where the blame lies if temperature fluctuations and incidents activate alarms. The integrated data memory records over 2,000 temperature readings at regular intervals to enable differentiated analysis.
Simple data analysis
The optionally available infrared key, including documentation software, facilitates data analysis. The software visualises relevant information in different formats and charts. Furthermore, the program can be used to easily export data into Excel and Word.
Special emergency backup
For maximum safety, all LKPv and LGPv appliances have an SSR (solid state relay). This not only ensures precise temperature regulation but also perfect, year-round control of refrigeration technology.

To enable reliable and efficient documentation, all compact appliances come with an integrated min/max thermometer.
