With our company founder, Hans Liebherr, it was occasionally personal contacts that gave impetus for new business areas. The entrepreneur found out about a refrigerator that was for sale from the branch manager of his house bank.

When looking at the product, the sales figures and the markets, Liebherr recognizes the enormous potential of the products. At that time, only every tenth German household owned a refrigerator - and demand increased with economic growth. Hans Liebherr decides not to buy the company and relies on its own production facilities at the southern German location in Ochsenhausen. The first refrigerator was manufactured there in 1954 and we still manufacture high-quality refrigerators and freezers there today.
