Why choose between a fridge-freezer, fridge, freezer or wine cabinet, when you can have it all? You’ll get the benefits of BioFresh for super long freshness, wine at the perfect temperature and the convenience of a freezer you never have to defrost again thanks to NoFrost technology. For those who don’t want to compromise – we have the perfect solution for you.
When it comes to buying a new cooling unit, one of the first decisions is whether you want a freestanding or built-in unit. Which you choose depends on your preferences, and we'll show you what to look for when deciding which model to buy.
Subtly integrated into your kitchen, or would you prefer it to be prominent in the middle of the room? This is the main visible feature between built-in and freestanding devices, but what other differences are there?
In terms of functionality, you don’t have to compromise whichever model you choose. There are refrigerators, freezers and fridge-freezer combinations available in both freestanding and built-in, and all of our wine cabinets are available in both variants, too. When it comes to cooling, there’s no difference between freestanding or built-in models either, so you can be confident you won’t have to compromise on quality.
In some cases, the available space plays a role when choosing between a freestanding and built-in appliance. With smaller kitchens, it may be better to choose a built-in appliance as these typically take up less space, but that doesn’t mean you have to compromise on storage capacity. Traditionally built-in fridges have offered less space than their freestanding counterparts, but not with Liebherr models.
Maintain the look of your kitchen with a built-in fridge or freezer behind a matching kitchen door. The appliance door and cabinet door are firmly fixed to each other, and with ventilation units in the base of the appliance, you don’t need to worry about ventilation slots in the worktop. Vario functionality ensures the device adapts to your space, in both height and depth.

To the built-in freezers
Liebherr offers customers a wide selection of built-in freezers in the 72 cm, 88 cm, 140 cm and 178 cm niches. Thanks to NoFrost, defrosting is a thing of the past.
To the built-in combinations
Liebherr offers a wide range of efficient and convenient fridge-freezers for the popular niche sizes 122 cm, 158 cm, 178 cm and 203 cm.
In smaller kitchens with little space, the Liebherr built-under units with pull-out compartment make perfect use of the storage space that was previously inaccessible. These can be installed under the worktop making them even more space-saving. Place appliances neatly under the cooking island and have your chilled food always at hand, even when cooking.
Under-counter units with pull-out trolleys and LiftUp-Box not only make optimal use of the storage space, they also ensure perfect ergonomics, too. You don't have to go without anything with built-under units - these are available with both cooling and freezing functions. You can even place appliances with BioFresh under your worktop, and under-counter units are particularly ergonomic thanks to the pull-out trolley and LiftUp-Box and placement in the cooking island.
Two hinged doors open up as “French doors”, revealing a large storage space ideal for families. Offering more space than conventional models, but with a smaller door projection, the Frenchdoor fridge-freezer is ideal for those who need more space. The freezer section is made up of two large pull-out drawers with plenty of space, so you can see everything inside easily.
The main difference between the Frenchdoor and side-by-side models is the arrangement of the fridge and freezer. In the side-by-side unit, the refrigerator and freezer are arranged side by side. French door appliances on the other hand, are structured like combinations, with the refrigerator compartment located above the freezer compartment. This is more ergonomic as the fridge is used more often than the freezer.
Another key benefit of the Frenchdoor model is the fixed door assembly, meaning you can fix matching cabinet doors to the appliance, seamlessly integrating it into the design of your kitchen. The cooling technology is ventilated via the skirting board, meaning no ventilation ducts have to be fitted to the kitchen cupboards above. Ventilation in built-in devices is essential and prevents air jams, which could damage the compressor and lead to increased energy consumption.
With different sizes and door solutions, built-in wine cabinets from Liebherr can be easily integrated into kitchen units or wall units.
